Dodici per sei

Following the Berlin première of Cello Concerto Grosso, there was great enthusiasm for a reworking of this composition for the 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker. It was a great pleasure for me to fulfil this wish; the structure of Cello Concerto Grosso, in which a group of eight cellists and a soloist conduct a dialogue with the orchestra, can be perfectly adapted for an ensemble which unifies both concertino and orchestra in a single entity. Dodici is however not merely an arrangement of Cello Concerto Grosso, but actually a new composition with free use of the material from the original work. Dodici per sei is the transcription for six violoncelli.
