désaccord 2 is B.A. Zimmermann’s musical portrait. He was very keen on Frescobaldi’s compositions. In 1966, I was studying in his composition class in Cologne. During classes, instead of analysing Webern’s music, he would ask me to play something from Frescobaldi’s organ works. These moments I still cherish. I was playing the piano and he was listening. We were both happy. Nevertheless, I felt an incredible tension in him, an inner dissonance, similar to that of the notes that are next to each other: A and B flat.

B.A. Zimmermann.
Er hat die Musik von Frescobaldi sehr geliebt.
1966 habe ich bei ihm in Köln Komposition studiert, und in den
Unterrichtsstunden, statt Webern zu analysieren, hat er mich regelmäßig gebeten, am Klavier aus dem Orgelbuch von Frescobaldi vorzuspielen.
Es sind bis heute unvergessliche Momente für mich.
Ich habe gespielt, er hat zugehört. Wir waren beide glücklich.
Trotzdem habe ich eine irrsinnige Spannung in ihm gefühlt, eine innere Verstimmung, wie die nebeneinander liegenden zwei Töne B und A.
