GENERAL INFORMATION
The Peter Eötvös Contemporary Music Foundation announces a workshop for conductors and composers between 3-8 October 2022, in Budapest (Hungary). The closing concert of the masterclass will be part of the Liszt Festival organized by Müpa. Selected active conductors and mentees of the Foundation will have the possibility to work on two pieces by Unsuk Chin and a new piece by a mentee composer will be rehearsed and performed, too.
Unsuk Chin is one of the leading contemporary composers of our era with her operatic and orchestral pieces performed all over the world.
“My music is a reflection of my dreams. I try to render into music the visions of immense light and of an incredible magnificence of colours that I see in all my dreams, a play of light and colours floating through the room and at the same time forming a fluid sound sculpture. Its beauty is very abstract and remote, but it is for these very qualities that it addresses the emotions and can communicate joy and warmth.” — Unsuk Chin, 2003
As this workshop is part of the foundation’s Mentoring Program there will be a new chamber piece written for the workshop by a mentored composer of the foundation. The workshop offers working sessions with Peter Eötvös, Unsuk Chin, Gregory Vajda and the mentored composer Jonsung OH.
