The Salzburg State Theater receives the Austrian Music Theater Prize in the “Best Contemporary Music Theater Production” category. Namely for the production “Angels in America” by Peter Eötvös.
“We are pleased about the award for this extraordinary production and see it as an incentive to consistently give major contemporary social issues a stage,” says artistic director Carl Philip von Maldeghem. This year, for the 11th time, the Austrian Music Theater Prize honors outstanding operatic achievements – and theater houses in Austria and the Austrian festival landscape. In 2023 it was awarded in 13 categories as well as various special categories.
