para Paloma
for violin in scordatura
Description
First performance: March, 2016, Auditorio Sony, Madrid, Spain
Raúl Suárez, violin
The solo piece is dedicated to Paloma O´Shea
Tuning only two strings of the violin a bit higher will allow harmonic possibilities that were not an option on a solo violin ever before. The nursery song-like melodies enable the performer to practice natural harmonics on open strings as well. I dedicate this brief and friendly piece to the 80th birthday of the founder of the Reina Sofia School of Music in Madrid, Paloma O´Shea due to its music educational significance.
